First Post

Hey guys, so I decided to finally get a blog. Today I went to my Dad's old college roomate Rick's house to watch the Maryland vs. Nevada game (which I'll talk about later) and he graduated from the University of Maryland in Journalism and he told me I should have a blog since I might want to be a journalist. I'm not totally set on this being my career becuase its not really a thriving business right now with all the economic problems going on today. But I really love sports and I want to combine it with something I do well and I think writing is one of those things. Usually I'll be writing about sports, music, current events, etc.., But today I'll just tell you about my day.

So As I was saying, I went to this guy Rick's house to watch the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl between 7-5 Maryland and 7-5 Nevada. If you don't already know by now, I'm probably one of the biggest Maryland fans you'll ever meet. Coming into the game, I felt pretty confident because Nevada is not from a strong conference, but i thought they could give our defense trouble becuase theyre Qb Colin Kapernick had like 19 pass Tds and 16 Rush Tds, which is the kind of dual-threat guy Maryland can't handle. I also didn't know what was gonna happen due to Maryland being the most inconsistent team ever. We beat 4 ranked teams this season (Cal, Clemson, Wake, and UNC) and lost to lowly Middle Tennessee State (What the..!?!)

So early in the game, Chris Turner hit Adrian Cannon for a 59 yard TD pass and I was feelin pretty good until Obi Egekeze missed the extra point (are you kidding me??) Then they got on the board with touchdown pass but then Torrey Smith returned the kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown to put us up 13-7. On the ensuing kickoff, Obi Egekeze wiffed on the kick off (once again, so pathetic) and the returned it to our 9 and would eventually score making it 14-13 after the first quarter. In the second quarter we played a lot better. MOrgan Green, our 3rd string running back who go playing time becuase Da'rel Scott, our starter was benched for missing curfew, had a rushing TD. Ronnie Tyler also had a touchdown catch and we go the extra point afterwards to go up 28-14, which made me feel good. Then the third quarter came and we pretty much sucked. Our offense was so inept and we turned the ball over 3 times on 3 straight possessions. (There's Maryland football for ya) So Nevada tied it up at 28-28 and I was heated. Finally, late in the 3rd quarter we put Da'rel Scott in. It was about time becuase all he really did was rush for 174 yards and 2 TDs on 14 carries IN ONE HALF!! SO we ended up winning 42-35 so I was happy.

My day wasn't done just yet. Then we (My Brother Sam, My Dad, Me, and Rick) went to the Terps-Elon Bball game. We got there a little late becuase we were watchin the football game, so the score was 21-16 when we got in. It was a fairly easy win, we played a little sloppy at parts but we used a couple huge runs to end up winning by 26, 76-50. Greivis Vasquez led the Terps with 17 points. Then we went home and opened up Christmas presents. My parents are divorced so I hadn't opened up presents at my Dad's yet. I was happy cuz I got a Wii and tickets to the Maryland-Wake Forest Bball game. Overall, It was a pretty good day. Well, thats all I got for you guys today, hope you enjoyed it. I wont normally write this long, so I don't bore yall to death. Alright well I'm out, Peace.
